The Challenge
Fresh out of Origami’s Product Design course, I was eager to apply my newfound knowledge to a personal project. While the scope was smaller than a full-fledged product launch, it presented a valuable opportunity to explore and test design strategies learned in the course.
Data Visualization Research: Explore best practices for data visualization techniques relevant to the chosen app concept.
High-Fidelity Mockups: Create visually appealing mockups with a focus on user interface design principles and style exploration.
My Goal
Solidify core UI/UX principles: Put theoretical knowledge into practice, focusing on usability, user experience, and adherence to market standards.
Explore data visualization techniques: Experiment with different ways to represent information clearly and engagingly.
Develop design sensibilities: Refine my aesthetic sense by exploring various design styles and creating visually appealing screens.
Prioritizing Usability over Complexity: Focusing on core functionalities and user flows while maintaining a user-friendly interface.
Striking a Visual Balance: Experimenting with different design styles while ensuring consistency and coherence across the app screens.
Meaningful Data Visualization: Choosing appropriate data visualization techniques to effectively communicate information without overwhelming the user.
Conclusions
This mini-project served as a springboard for developing my UI/UX design skills. By focusing on usability, user experience, and data visualization, I gained valuable experience in applying design principles to create a user-centered product. This exploration also strengthened my visual design capabilities and prepared me for tackling larger design challenges.
